AROUND THE STAR - THE STAR BY CAR

MONCALIERI
In 1277 Thomas III transformed the fortress into a ducal residence. At the end of 400 'Yolanda, wife of Amedeo IX, ordered the expansion, so the castle took on the appearance of a mansion and a villa became a true delight. Stupinigi
It was started by Juvarra in 1729, commissioned by Vittorio Amedeo II, with the construction of a hunting lodge, to be replaced as the seat of royal castle Venaria. Juvarra died in 1736 when the concept for the castle was built. The direct link with the city is highlighted by a long avenue of trees, cornerstone of the whole composition comprising the system of courtyard, building, garden and park.
In 1737 Charles Emmanuel III ordered the extension of the residential complex as the seat and took the new court architect Benedetto Alfieri. The work was finished in 1789.

RIVOLI
In 1247 the medieval castle was the residence. In the second half of the 500 Emanuele Filiberto adapted the remains of the medieval castle to the standard of a real building Savoy. Carlo Emanuele I was born in Rivoli and early '600 he built a large complex with residence and art gallery that you see today. The project was created by Ascanio Vitozzi and Charles Castellamonte.

Venaria
